About the Lagotto Romagnolo Breed

The Lagotto Romagnolo is known for being affectionate, loyal, and intelligent. They enjoy having tasks to do and love activities like scent work, swimming, and learning new tricks. While independent at times, they form strong bonds with their families and are gentle and friendly when properly socialized.

Yes. Lagottos are naturally gentle and patient, which makes them excellent family dogs. Their medium size and calm demeanor suit homes with children. They’re also typically sociable with other pets, especially when introduced early.

Male Lagottos usually weigh between 28 to 35 pounds and stand 17 to 19 inches tall. Females tend to weigh 24 to 32 pounds and measure 16 to 18 inches. They’re a great size for active families without being too large.

While no breed is completely hypoallergenic, Lagottos have hair instead of fur, which means minimal shedding. Their curly coat traps dander, making them a suitable option for many allergy sufferers.

Lagottos thrive with 45 to 60 minutes of daily activity. They enjoy walks, hiking, swimming, and interactive play. Mental stimulation like puzzle toys and scent games is equally important.

Lagottos come in a range of natural colors, including solid white, shades of brown, orange, and roan patterns. Many have white markings. Their curly, woolly coat gives them their signature teddy bear look.

Yes. The Lagotto is the only purebred dog developed specifically for truffle hunting. They have a strong sense of smell, a natural digging instinct, and a focused work ethic. While many are family pets, the instinct is still very much alive.

We are transparent with our results and happy to share documentation.

Each puppy comes with a one-year health guarantee for hereditary and congenital issues. A vet exam is required within 10 days of adoption. Full terms are in our sales agreement.

We recommend high-quality dog food with real meat as the first ingredient. Whether it’s premium kibble or a carefully balanced raw or home-cooked diet, we’re here to guide you. We send puppies home with feeding tips and transition support.
